19th Century Parisian Graphic Art | Van Gogh Museum | Amsterdam | March 3rd – 11th June

The Van Gogh Museum will host one on the world’s largest collections of French lithographs from the Fin de Siècle era (1890-1905). The “Prints in Paris 1900” exhibition will be running from 3rd March until 11th June. You will be whisked back to Paris of old and experience the truly fantastic graphic art revolution which took place from 1890 onwards.

The Fin de Siècle (1890-1905) was a famous and certainly groundbreaking period of French art.  Graphic design became very important, especially in Paris. It was a time when avant-garde art began to influence mainstream art, such as prints, magazine illustrations, decorative objects and posters. Cosmopolitan Parisian life was the central theme and many emerging artists experimented with different printing techniques. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, Pierre Bonnard, and Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen became known as the fathers of the scene and created the most stunning and accessible works.

France is the central theme for all the exhibitions at the Van Gogh Museum in 2017 and the long awaited Springtime show centres on graphic art work from 1900 as its main theme, while the Autumn exhibition focuses on the relationships between Dutch artists living in Paris and their peers back in Holland.

Limburgs Mooiste | June 9th & 10, 2017

Originally, The Limburgs Mooiste cycle event started out as a touring variation of the famous Amstel Gold Bicycle Race.  The tour takes competitors through the rolling pastures of the Limburg area on the border with the Netherlands. This unique race offers a fantastic choice of professional routes. There are two 100 kilometre routes, that’s approximately 60 miles if you grew up in the UK, one has plenty of small hills, the other not so much and there’s a 150 kilometer, approximately 93 miles which is a much more challenging route. The event also includes a number of shorter routes which could be classed as “family tours” for the more adventurous families out there. All routes start and end at the Avantis business park which can be found on the border with Germany.

The Limburgs Mooiste is a quite possibly the best way to explore the south of Holland, what better way or more Dutch than cycling! It’s a great day out for any cycling enthusiasts and the bicycle fair which runs alongside the event will help expand your interest and will most certainly give visitors and competitors alike a greater appreciation of cycling in the Netherlands. In Holland, many people say that the event might convert the most skeptical non-cycling visitors! If you are feeling adventurous and want to enter into the professional tour events then it is important that you register online in advance.
